Three herrings lie close, side by side,
With silver skin and quiet pride.

No room to move, no space to play,
No chance to dance or swim away.

The water’s gone, they cannot breathe,
Small fish struggle underneath.

When sharks grow strong and take too much,
They leave the tank with nothing left to touch.

Without the little fish so bright,
Working daily out of sight,

Sooner or later, great or small,
Must go without – they lose it all.
